VOTE THIS TUESDAY FOR NYDIA IN NY7 & BRING A FRIEND! - A call for Election Day volunteers

Dear Neighbors,

I am proud to announce that President Obama, Governor Cuomo, Senator Schumer, Senator Gillibrand, NY Assembly Speaker Silver, Mayor Ed Koch, and Former Bronx BP Fernando Ferrer, among others, plus the NY Times, NY Post, NY Daily News, El Diario, Amsterdam News and local papers throughout the boroughs, have all endorsed my re-election.

The challenge now is to let the voters in my newly drawn district know what the President of the United States, all of New York's top national and state elected officials and NY's premier newspapers said. With only days left, we don't have much time left to get the word out.

President Obama said: "For the past two decades, Rep. Nydia Velázquez has been a constant advocate for middle-class families... [She] has worked tirelessly to create good middle-class jobs ... provide affordable housing ... and invest in education... The people of NY's 7th Congressional need to re-elect Rep. Velázquez so that she can keep fighting for them in Congress."

Governor Cuomo said: "Nydia is one of New York's strongest advocates in Washington and she has proven time and again that she gets things done. Whether it is bringing much needed federal dollars for public housing, education and our green spaces or leading the charge to pass the Dream Act in the House, she can always be counted on to deliver results."

Senator Schumer said: "Nydia has been a great partner in Washington...From the landmark appointment of Sonia Sotomayor to saving affordable housing for thousands...to leading the charge on the Dream Act. I am proud to stand with her today and look forward to many more years of fighting together for New Yorkers."

Senator Gillibrand said "We need more women's voices at the decision making table in government...While I have been encouraging more women to consider running for office themselves, it is equally important that we send extraordinary women like Nydia back to Washington."

Will you please help me spread the word about these endorsements?

The critical things you can do:

Volunteer on or before Tuesday's Democratic Primary.

Forward this email to 3 friends especially if they live in the new 7th Congressional District.

Vote to re-elect me on Tuesday, June 26, 2012!

Thank you for all that you do.

Nydia M. Velázquez

Press Release: Governor Andrew Cuomo Endorses Nydia Velázquez for Reelection to Congress

Governor Cuomo Endorses Nydia Velázquez for Reelection to Congress

"I am proud to endorse Congresswoman Nydia Velázquez for reelection to Congress.

"Nydia is one of New York's strongest advocates in Washington and she has proven time and again that she gets things done. Whether it is bringing much needed federal dollars for public housing, education and our green spaces or leading the charge to pass the Dream Act in the House, she can always be counted on to deliver results.

Nydia is also a fierce fighter for her community and a strong voice promoting Democratic values in Congress. She has worked hard to provide access to quality health care for all and to protect women's reproductive rights. And during these challenging economic times, she has fought for job creation and extending unemployment benefits for those struggling to find work.

"I urge all Democrats in the 7th Congressional District to vote in next Tuesday 's  primary to re-elect Nydia Velázquez to Congress."

News: New York Post Endorses Rep. Velazquez

"In the 7th CD, which includes parts of Brooklyn, Queens and Manhattan, Rep. Nydia Velazquez is facing her first serious primary challenge after 20 years in Congress.

The reason? She refuses to kowtow to Brooklyn Democratic boss Vito Lopez, who is so offended that he’s running one of his sock puppets, City Councilman Erik Martin Dilan, against her.

Dilan claims Velazquez is anti-Israel. She’s responded with endorsements from such stalwart supporters of Israel as Ed Koch, Sheldon Silver and Jerrold Nadler.

Frankly, we’d be hard pressed to come up with even a scanty list of issues on which Velazquez agrees with us. But anyone who gives Vito Lopez that much agita can’t be all bad. The Post endorses Rep. Velazquez."
